The main project that I focused on while at Pediatric Therapy Works was a case study. I chose this particular case because I had heard of Down syndrome, but I did not know much about it. I also felt an interest in this case that was different from the rest. For the format of the case study, I compared a classical picture of Down syndrome versus a clinical picture. Over the course of my time at this internship site, I researched Down syndrome using literature and medical information from credible sources on the Internet. I also spoke to my preceptor and the patient's parent to find out information for the clinical picture of Down syndrome. After gathering all of the necessary information, I realized that there was so much more involved with this condition than I ever knew.

         By the end of my internship, I had developed my first official case study. This case study taught me so much about Down syndrome and how to improve and apply certain skills, such as organizing, writing, researching, and time management. I am very grateful that I was able to have this patient for my first case study. If I could do anything over again, I would definitely have chosen to do this project. I believe that it offers several benefits for an undergraduate student, who is pursing a future at a graduate school level.
